Warm, balanced and uncomplicated – that’s the lunch menu at MGG Metrec. Since July, every employee – even those without a factory canteen – has been able to enjoy a freshly prepared meal. This is made possible by a partnership with Gasthof Teufel in St. Georgen am Ybbsfeld, which delivers pre-ordered meals to the workforce every day.

There are several menus to choose from every day. These are served on porcelain plates before delivery.
After MGG office staff in Amstetten had already been enjoying hot lunches for some time, the offer was extended to the entire workforce in July 2025. This means that all Metrec employees can now use the service. The feedback has been consistently positive: the meals are well received, the process is simple, and the option of getting a nutritious meal without having to go anywhere else is very popular.
How it works
Every day, there are several menus to choose from, which can be conveniently ordered in advance. The meals are served on porcelain plates with covers and delivered in insulated polystyrene boxes. A specially purchased oven keeps the portions warm for a long time so that the food can be enjoyed at the individual’s break time.

Freshly cooked: Gasthaus Teufel from St. Georgen am Ybbsfeld delivers daily lunches in insulated boxes directly to the MGG Metrec company premises.
More than just catering
The daily lunch service sends a clear message: at Müller-Guttenbrunn, well-being in the workplace is not just lip service, but a living reality. ‘It is important to me that every employee has the opportunity to enjoy a warm, balanced meal during their working day,’ says Managing Director Christian Müller-Guttenbrunn, explaining his commitment. ‘I am delighted that we have been able to establish this practical alternative to a factory canteen. The quality is impressive, and the process fits perfectly into our workflows.’
The cooperation with Gasthof Teufel combines regional cuisine with efficient organisation. Pre-ordering means that production is tailored to demand, which reduces food waste and ensures that every portion is fresh and ready on time. This means fewer trips during the lunch break, reliable quality and more time for the essentials.

A special oven purchased by the company management keeps the portions warm for a long time so that the food can be enjoyed during individual break times.
Fair contribution, big impact
The model is also attractive from an economic perspective: the Müller-Guttenbrunn Group covers part of the costs for the lunch initiative. This is a fair contribution towards a hot meal, which eases the strain on household budgets and enhances the company’s appeal as an employer. ‘I would like to point out here – with a wink, mind you! – that with the generous support of the company management, we even beat Karl Nehammer’s much-discussed “Chancellor’s menu”,’ says Christian Müller-Guttenbrunn, delighted that his employees are happy to take advantage of the offer.
The communal lunch promotes exchange across departmental boundaries. Those who wish to do so can eat together in the break room, while those who don’t have time can eat their meal later. Both options are fine. With its expanded lunch service, MGG Metrec has found an uncomplicated solution that promotes health, satisfaction and team spirit in equal measure. Freshly cooked and well organised – that’s what the modern working world tastes like.
